One of the distinctives of STI/SPFA is its strong volunteer support base, which has been critical to the success of the organization, its service and education offerings and work on behalf of steel plate fabricators that has resulted in recognition of STI/SPFA within the industry.

Two awards were created to acknowledge individuals whose contributions to the Steel Tank Institute are noteworthy. The Historic List of Recipients of the Charles W. Sonnenburg and Hall of Fame Awards is accessible here and individuals honored formerly as Honorary Life Members of SPFA are available in this Listing. 

The Steel Tank Institute and the Steel Plate Fabricators Association gives a number of awards each year to Member Companies.  The awards commend outstanding records in quality of product, safety records achieved at various facilities, and outstanding projects completed by Members. 

The Annual Product Awards recognize the steel construction products and achievements of Member Companies that exemplify the steel tank industry.  These projects serve to bring attention to the positive qualities and flexibility of steel as the production material of choice for many industries, and so we honor winning members with these awards.
