DNV (Det Norske Veritas) is an independent foundation with the purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the environment. Since 1954 DNV has had a dedicated research department that has enhanced and developed services, rules and industry standards in multiple fields.

The DNV Lab has tested fuel grade ethanol (FGE) with the following results:

95% FGE, Nitrogen purge
95%FGE, Air purge
70% gasoline, 30% FGE, Nitrogen purge
90% gasoline, 10% FGE, Nitrogen purge
70% gasoline, 30% FGE, Air purge
90% gasoline, 10% FGE, Air purge
RESULTS: 0.008 to 0.02mm/yr
RESULTS: below detectable limits
RESULTS: below detectable limits
RESULTS: 0.0025mm/yr
RESULTS: below detectable limits
RESULTS: below detectable limits

Steel coupons were either completely immersed or partially immersed with the rest of the sample in the vapor phase. Exposure time was 2 months at ambient temperature.
